Batterers' Intervention Program is 26 or 52 weeks in English & Spanish Intake assessment must be scheduled prior to starting class. 

$55 intake fee, $35 per class

 What is the Duluth Model of nonviolence?

The Duluth Model provides communities with an approach to coordinating a response to domestic violence. A process that places the needs of victims at the center of a community's coordinated response. A process that utilizes a consistent set of principles and a shared understanding of battering into each intervention. The Duluth Model focuses on men who commit the crime of domestic violence and female victims. Its theory is based on an understanding of male power, control, and dominance as culturally and historically pervasive and which allowed, if not encouraged, men to control women, sometimes using violence.

The Power and Control Wheel is a helpful tool to understand the lived experience of women who live with men who use violence. It is characterized by the pattern of actions that an individual uses to intentionally control or dominate his intimate partner. 

 Who created the Duluth Model?

Feminist Ellen Pence the Duluth Model or Domestic Abuse Intervention Project is a program developed to reduce domestic violence against women. It is named after Duluth, Minnesota, the city where it was developed. The program was largely founded by Feminist Ellen Pence. 

 Is the Duluth Model effective?

Research has found that by applying all the components of the Duluth Model, 68% of offenders who move through Duluth's criminal justice system and men's nonviolence classes do not reappear in the system eight years out.
